YouTube Offers Video Annotations

I was taking a look at YouTube earlier today and noticed I had another option available for my videos. You can now add annotations to your videos hosted on YouTube. There are currently three types of annotations: speech bubbles, notes and spotlights. You can add annotations to any of your own videos including links to other videos or search results on YouTube.

Here is a quick sample I did using my AboutUs.org video. I added some simple notes about what is happening in the video.

Update: Just realized that the embedded version does not offer the annotations. You will have to visit the video on YouTube to see the annotations I added.

If you want to turn the annotations off there is the option to turn them off on the menu. Nice new little feature for YouTube videos. You can read more about it on the YouTube blog or in their help section.
